I've absolutely decided that I'm the most happy when I'm writing. It takes me out of myself, my problems, my immediate surroundings, and it pushes me inward to a place that's all my own. Even if I don't ever get published, I'm grateful for this wonderful ability to escape into my imagination. And in my darkest hours, I find both solace and excitement in creating new worlds...so, *cheers to writing*...

I'm making great progress on my new story and I am really excited about this one! I'm hoping this one will be more of an attention grabber for literary agents. Of course, it's still a fantasy - because that's what I love to write -(reality is just too dull for me). I'm three chapters in and counting...so, wish me luck cyber world - that is, if anyone's listening (or reading)! :)

Self publishing

Does anyone know a ball park figure for how much it costs to self publish? I am considering doing just that... well, that is if I will be able to afford it! :) If not I am going to start sending out my queries again...it's been 9 months since I've even attempted it again.

E- Books VS. Traditional Publishing???

I've been coming across a lot of blogs and sights for publishing companies that specialize in E-books or online books, and I was thinking about possibly considering... but it would be helpful if anyone had any opinions on the pros and cons of this? Does anyone know anybody who has published their novel this way? It sounds interesting, but I just love the way a book feels in my hands, personally.

I've taken an absence from writing for about six months now, and I'm ready to jump back into it...finally! I am revising my query letter and doing some more edits. I really only sent it out to six different places last time (which was the first time as well). Does anyone have any good tips about queries or good agents to send a YA fantasy to?

I need to get busy! What do you do when you are in a writing rut???

Dear Void,

I've had a very sluggish beginning this year! I need to get my query letters back out there, but I am having a very large lack of ambition so far---this silly January 2010! I am trying to find things to motivate me to begin writing my sequel as well. It is very difficult, however, to begin a sequel when you are trying to get the first book represented. I feel like I'm in a writer's rut that I can't get out of. I also have a very good idea for another novel swimming around in my head, which is crowding up my already crowded brain! One story swimming around is bad enough; but having two in there, bumping into each other is just too much! What to do??? I'll let you know when I figure it all out...but don't anyone hold their breath.

Winter is making me feel fat...not only due to the incessant bouts of chocolate indulgence, but also the multiple layers of clothing that one must wear to not freeze to death on a snowy Utah winter morning; but it can't be helped, so I shall continue my binge and wrap.

The more I search and read about the tedious and insurmountable task of trying to find a literary agent, I am tempted to throw my arms up in the air and surrender....It seems like a freakish nightmare of unmeasurable proportions! I do hope that I don't lose faith, and that I am able to keep a healthy optimistic attitude among the vast seas of never ending literary cynicism...:) *Happy thoughts*
